Liverpool Football Club issued this statement today,
"Fernando Torres tonight submitted a written transfer request, which has been rejected by Liverpool."
"Fernando is under a long-term contract and the Club expects him to honour the commitment he made to Liverpool FC and its supporters when he signed the agreement."
Chelsea FC made a bid for Torres in the summer but it was rejected, Torres sought assuarnces that he would be able to leave the club in the future should an acceptable bid be made or he considers a move necessary. However these issues were discussed with manager Christian Purslow, who has now left the club and no legal clause was signed.
I really like Liverpool and think that they are a good club, also I am a huge fan of Fernando Torres. My opinion is if a player is unhappy at a club and wishes to leave, the club should respect his wishes and do everything possible to make it happen. I don;t think it's good at all for a player to be unhappy at the club he is at. But lets give this Torres thing some time and see what happens, I wish him all the best though.
