The Madness Of Transfer Deadline Day

I don't know where to start...today was madness, complete and utter madness, but that's football for you I guess, so many twists and turns. So incase you have been living under a rock here's what went down today on the transfer deadline day.

Luis Suarez finalized his move from Ajax to Liverpool for £22.8M. Here is his first Liverpool interview below.

Andy Carroll transfered from Newcastle United to Liverpool for £35M...which in my opinion is a hell of a lot, considering this guy has never even played in the Champions League before, but Liverpool must see something in him, so fingers crossed he does well. He will take Fernando Torres number 9 shirt.

Fernando Torres tranfered to Chelsea for a record fee of £50M. After having his transfer request rejected 2 days ago, Liverpool must have caved and let him go. Here is Fernando's first interview for Chelsea also below.

Off course there were many many other transfers but I feel these are the most important...and shocking. This January transfer season alone has seen £200M being spent compared to £29M last year. Are you shocked yet???

Congratulations too all new transfers and all the best.

Carly Cole - Rara Appearance

Wow it's been a long time since I've seen new picture's of Carly. Here she is out and about in Liverpool, hopefully we get more photo's. We loveeee Carly :)

Irina Shayk - Wraps Up In New York

Irina Shayk made sure to wrap up extra warm whilst back in New York, where the city is currently experiencing snowfall. Even bundling up to stay cosy, she still looks beautiful and fabulous. I bet Cristiano is missing her for sure ;)

Andres Iniesta and Ana Ortiz - Out an About

Barcelona player Andres Iniesta and his lovely pregnant fiance were pictured out in Barcelona together, Whilst Andres dosen't look so pleased at being photographed, Ana is looking lovely and I can't wait for her to pop out a baby :) No doubt it'll be a wee cutie...just like his parents.

Fernando Torres Transfer Request Rejected.

Liverpool Football Club issued this statement today,

"Fernando Torres tonight submitted a written transfer request, which has been rejected by Liverpool."
"Fernando is under a long-term contract and the Club expects him to honour the commitment he made to Liverpool FC and its supporters when he signed the agreement."

Chelsea FC made a bid for Torres in the summer but it was rejected, Torres sought assuarnces that he would be able to leave the club in the future should an acceptable bid be made or he considers a move necessary. However these issues were discussed with manager Christian Purslow, who has now left the club and no legal clause was signed.

I really like Liverpool and think that they are a good club, also I am a huge fan of Fernando Torres. My opinion is if a player is unhappy at a club and wishes to leave, the club should respect his wishes and do everything possible to make it happen. I don;t think it's good at all for a player to be unhappy at the club he is at. But lets give this Torres thing some time and see what happens, I wish him all the best though.

Spanish Wags Are The Sexiest!

Those La Liga boys clearly have good taste when it comes to their women. DT magazine revealed its Top 50 sexiest women and they included 4 of the wife's and girlfriends of players in Spain.

Cristinao Ronaldo's Russian girlfriend Irina Shayk was voted the number one sexiest women... and if you can't tell why, just look at her photo.

Real Madrid's Iker Casillas girlfriend, sports presenter Sara Carbonero was voted number 2.

Barcelona defender Carles Puyol's girlfriend model Malena Costa was voted number 45.

and Atletico Madrid's Diego Forlan's model girlfriend Zaira Nara was voted number 32.

Sara and Iker - Gorgeous As Always

My faveourite Spanish couple Iker Casillas and Sara Carbonero were pictured coming out of El Babero restaurant in Madrid, looking beautiful and stylish as always...

P.S Anyone else notice Iker's little Spanish flag in his car... proud Spaniard =D

Football Facts For The Day!

It's time for some statistics on the beautiful game. Yayyyy...even Torres and Villa are excited.

Manchester United are the most stable club in Europe, with an average player staying there for 5.71 seasons. Sir Alex Ferguson is famously know for his powerful persuasion skills, after all he did have to concince Ronaldo to come back to play for United after the World Cup 2006 winking incident. And it was suggested Wayne Rooney wanted to leave just a few months ago, but alas he is still at Man Utd. Praise to you Sir Alex ;)

Inter Milan are the oldest team in Europe, with an average age of 29.61 years. Considering last season Inter won the treble, I'm thinking old age isn't really an issue when it comes to winning trophies. More experience, more grey hairs...dosen't matter.

Barcelona have the shortest team in Europe, with an average height of 5ft 10 inches. Messi, Xavi and Iniesta, the three Ballon d'Or finalist are all 5ft 7 and under... maybe goof things do come in small sizes :)

Real Madrid Presents Emmanuel Adebayor

Welcome Real Madrid's striker for the next 6 months. All the way from Manchester City, Emmanuel Adebayor. Congrats Bro!! Do us proud :)

Manchester Rivals Come Together For Some Usher Lovin!!

When a global hip hop megastar such as Usher hits up Manchester to play a show, you can guarantee that most footballers and their wags will be in attendence. Players and bitter city rivals from Manchester United and Manchester City turned up to see the OMG singer and it gives everyone the perfect opportunity to laugh at or applaud thier wardrobe choices.

Collen Rooney - Simple and cute. I approve :)

Wayne Rooney - Not to keen on the whole black/brown jumper, couldv'e have done so much better Wayne. Please ask Coleen for some tips next time.

Nani and Daniela Martins - Danilea we like your outfit...Nani not so much, a velvet jacket. WTF were you thinking, do you own a mirror. Scratch that your a millionaire, hire a stylist for the love of god.

Michael and Lisa Carrick - I love this couple and they are both dressed perfectly. Simple yet stylish, we applaud you :)

Joe Hart - Are you trying to be the next JLS member??? Too baggy trousers, blazer thing is a big no. Please don't try hard Joe!!!

Edin Dzeko - Ahhh another footballer wearing a print T-shirt of a famous vintage filmstar. Usually its Marlon Brando, but this time its James Dean. I don't get the obsession with these t-shirts, but at least there not an eyesore.

Irina Shayk - Godess In Black

Cristiano Ronaldo's girlfriend Irina Shayk was pictured at designer Kinder Aggugini;s launch at Macy's. The model wore Louboutin boots (which I am planning on flying to New York to steal) and skintight PVC trousers...ya know so she can show off her fabulous ass. We know your gorgeous Irina and your body is banging, but you don't have to remind us every day...just kidding, work it girl ;)

Hobbit Show's Support For Manchester United

Yeah I know the title is cheesy and really really bad, but deal with it. I'm not creative today...
Lord of the Rings and Lost star Dominic Monaghan was photographed proudly wearing his Manchester United shirt and pointing to the emblem. He was pictured in Los Angeles atfer Man Utd beat Blackpool in a stunning comeback which saw them win the match despite being 2-0 down at one point.

Repping your team out in LA Dominic... too awesome man :)

Raul Albiol - Guardian Angel In Black

This Real Madrid Sevilla game was really something eh? Bottles getting thrown at Iker, yellow cards getting passed out like candy. Real Madrid players Ramos (obviously), Ronaldo, Diarra, Arbeloa and Khedira all got yellows...better keep a clean slate next time boys.

And then there was this wonderful rescue from Albiol, from some angles it looks like the ball went in, other it was just on the line, not all the way over. Either way it was a fantastic effort, really proud of Raul. Bless his little cotton socks, he went for that ball like a fat kid would for the last twinkie on earth.

We <3 you Albiol.

Congratulations Liverpool!!

After a crazy half season for Liverpool, with more downs than ups. It finally seems like the Reds are finding there feet again. With a 3-0 win in thier last game and now a 1-0 win courtesy of an own goal by John Pantsil of Fulham, Liverpool are now 7th in the Premier League Table. Hopefully things are only up from here, but then again this is football...you never know.

Enjoy some photo's of the own goal tonight and celebrations afterwards...

Iker Casillas Bottle Hit At Sevilla Game

This makes me sick. To think that a football fan could throw a bottle, with the intention of hurting a player makes my stomach churn. What's worse is that this is a man who helped win the World Cup for your country...and this is how you thank him. Disgusting!!!

Whoever threw that bottle, your not a football fan, your a disgrace. Being a fan of football is about supporting and backing your club till the very end. But you must always respect opposing teams and thier players, there is no room for violence. It's fine to have a bit of banter and mock teams you may dislike, but intentionally trying to hurt an opposing teams player...sickening.

I may not like Barcelona, as I am a proud Madridsta, but I respect that team and its players and hope Barcelona fans would do the same for my team. Thank god Iker is not seriously injured, it couldv'e have been much, much worse.

Please! Never resort to violence, it isnt the answer.

Gerard Pique Sports Illustrated Interview

It may seem rather obvious to point this out, but in January 2011 it's good to be Gerard Piqué. Still just 23 years old, the stylish Spanish center back has won the World Cup, two Champions League titles (with Barcelona and Manchester United) and three league crowns in Spain and England. He was recently named one of the world's top four defenders in the 2010 FIFA/FIFPro World XI, and his Barcelona team is on course for a historic season in European soccer.
Piqué is the rare central defender who has the chance to become a breakout global sports star. He's good at what he does. He wins. He even scores a few goals. And away from the field he's a handsome guy who gives interesting interviews in Spanish, Catalan and, yes, English, as I found out when we spoke for half an hour on Tuesday.

Piqué touched on a number of topics, including how to defend Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, the differences between Sir Alex Ferguson and Pep Guardiola, the success of Barcelona's La Masía youth academy and the current Barça team's chances of becoming the greatest club team of all time. Here's our interview, which is edited for length and clarity:

SI.com: First off, how was it meeting Chad Ochocinco, the NFL player? He's a big soccer fan, and I know he was in Barcelona recently to visit with the team.

Piqué: It was great to meet him. He said to me that he loves soccer and that he follows Real Madrid and Barcelona as well. But he's a Madrid fan, he said to me. So I was little angry with him because he's the rival then.

Did you give him any stick for that? I know he visited Real Madrid too.

I did. When he was in Madrid he spoke with Cristiano [Ronaldo] and with [José] Mourinho as well. So after that he came to Barcelona, and I presented him to all the Barcelona players. Some of them don't speak English, so I had to translate. I explained to him that Barcelona plays more interesting football for the people, so I think now he prefers Barcelona! (Laughs.) I'm just joking. But he was a great guy, and I had a good time with him.

You are from Barcelona, and you have been a Barcelona social member since the day you were born. What's the best way to describe your personal relationship to the club Barcelona?

My grandfather is the most important thing. When I was born, my grandfather made me a social Barcelona fan. My grandfather followed Barcelona since he was young, and afterward he was a vice-president of the club. My father and mother were Barcelona fans as well, so in my family there is a Barcelona feeling with the club.

Does that make it even more special to play for Barcelona and win titles with the team?

Yeah. It's different from with other clubs. I remember when I was at Manchester United, it was a great feeling to play for that team. It was a great team, one of the best in the world, and I won the Premier League and Champions League with them. But I feel in Barcelona like it's my home. I start to win titles with Barcelona, and it's such a different feeling. I followed Barcelona when I was a kid, and now as a player wearing that shirt and winning the titles, you can't feel anything better than that.

Real Madrid v Sevilla Preview

Real Madrid and Sevilla have went head to head in the Copa Del Rey 26 times. Out of those Real has won 14, drawn 10 and lost 2. So basing tonight's match on previous results, Real has an advantage...but there's no point in looking in the past.

Sevilla have won the Copa twice over the last four seasons, including last year. Currently 4th in La Liga, this is team that Real will need to give there all against, because be certain Sevilla will still be able to taste the success from winning that Copa trophy last year and will want it again...very badly.

Let's pray Real win, not just for us fans, but for Jose Mourinho celebrating his 48th birthday tonight... Do you want to blow out your candles and make a wish now Jose?

Emmanuel Adebayor Passes Medical At Real Madrid

“Emmanuel Adebayor had his required medical on Thursday at Sanitas-La Moraleja Hospital. According to Dr. Carlos Diez, who oversaw the process, the player has a "tremendous physique. He is in very good health and is able to begin training immediately."

Emmanuel Adebayor has passed his medical for Real Madrid. The former Manchester City player, now on loan to Real Madrid for the rest of the season passed with flying colours and is now ready to unleash his inner animal at Real.

Here's some background history on the new boy at Madrid...

He was voted African World Footballer of the year in 2008.

Has previously played for two premiership teams including Arsenal and Manchester City.

He scored 46 goals at Arsenal in 4 seasons there and 15 at Manchester City in his 2 season there, with only 5 goals scored in 12 appearances this season for Manchester City, only 1 goal in the league so far.

Soooo...here's to hoping he does well at Real and scores lots of pretty goals for us. Hopefully he can flourish under Mourinho. In my opinion I think Ruud Van Nistelrooy would've been better, but seeing as Hamburg are refusing to let go him and are locking him away in a tall German castle far away from us...we will have to make do with Adebayor.

But I'm willing to give the guy a chance, he is a good player and I think he can adapt to the new and improved Real. Fingers crossed :)

Happy Birthday To The Chosen One

With a total of 17 trophies with Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan, plus 28 personal trophies and awards, there's no question that Jose Mourinho is the best....face it. He's better then you. Deal with it!!

Happy Birthday Jose :) x

Cristiano Ronaldo FIFA Interview

Cristiano Ronaldo is, on current form, undisputedly Real Madrid’s best player. Not only has the Portuguese scored 23 of his side’s 48 goals in this season’s La Liga, but his quality, hard work and will to win have made him a fans’ favourite for Los Blancos and set the benchmark for his team-mates to follow.

Set to turn 26 on 5 February 2011 and now a much more mature figure both on the field and in his dealings with the media, the former Manchester United and Sporting star spoke to FIFA.com about, among other topics, his sparkling displays for Real, their current form and coach Jose Mourinho.

With his burning ambition and insatiable hunger for goals, Ronaldo never stops working on his game or striving for football’s biggest prizes. Yet given his dazzling record in front of goal, does he feel he may have reached his peak?

“I’ve got the same attitude I’ve always had,” said the player from the island of Madeira. “My team-mates are in good form and I’m feeling really confident. The goals are flowing because the team’s playing well. I just want to keep this form going, but without setting myself any targets because there are still a lot of games left. I’ve still got plenty to offer in all the competitions we’re involved in.”

And though he will not be drawn on personal goals, 'CR7' was frank when it came to his club’s aims for 2011. “Real Madrid must not go two years without winning anything," he declared. "Yes, I’m a standard bearer for the club but no more than any of the other players. We’re a team and we have to play and think like a team. You can’t think in an individual way. I’m hopeful that this year we’re going to win major honours.”

One of the main factors behind the attacker's faith in his team is coach Mourinho. Much like Ronaldo, opinions of ‘The Special One’ vary wildly, yet among his current and former charges feelings of affection, respect and admiration are universal.

“He’s a coach with a very special kind of charisma," explained Ronaldo. "I think he’s the best around at the moment. The titles he’s won speak for themselves. He’s won silverware at every team he’s been at, which is something you only achieve if you’re a born winner.

"It’s very exciting and motivating to be working with him. I didn’t know his methodology before but now I’m amazed at how good he is. I’m honoured and proud to be working with him, I hope to keep growing as a player and a person alongside him, and that we win a lot of titles together. He manages to get the maximum, 100 per cent, out of every player. That’s his greatest asset and it is inevitably reflected out on the pitch.”

Nor did the 2008 FIFA World Player neglect to mention the influence that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson had on his transformation from raw youngster to world-beater. “I learned so much with Ferguson," said the Portugal captain. "He’s like a footballing father figure to me. He’s a great man, a great friend and someone who’s very close to my heart.”

Able to operate on either flank, or centrally in midfield or attack, Ronaldo arguably wreaks the most havoc in a more advanced position. “We lost our striker Gonzalo Higuain (the Argentinian is currently recovering from an operation on a slipped disc), but the good news is that Kaka’s fit again," he said. "He’s on form, is confident and is ready to help the team.

“Will I have to play as a centre-forward? I’ll play wherever the coach thinks is the best position for me. I’m not used to playing as a No9, but if I need to do so that’s fine with me. The gaffer knows better than anyone who should play and where.”

Gerard Pique Fifa Interview

How did you feel after being voted into the 2010 FIFA/FIFPro World XI?
Gerard Pique: Very happy. I know that everything happens very quickly in football, and for that reason I’m very aware of how fortunate I am and want to enjoy every minute. What’s more, the fact that it was my fellow players that voted for me is a real sign of recognition.

Including you, there are six Barça players in that World XI, five of whom are products of the club’s youth system.

The fact that five of those players came from La Masia is very important, because it means that those people who put their faith in home-grown players are now reaping the rewards. Besides which, Barcelona didn’t have to pay anything to sign them and they’re now among the best players in the world. That means a lot to the club and to the fans too, who can relate to these players because they’re home-grown.

In your opinion, what is La Masia’s secret formula?

More than anything, the footballing standards they set there, which put the emphasis on looking after the ball, never risking it, never giving it away, always choosing the right pass and perfect control. And on a personal level, it teaches you that football isn’t the be all and end all, that you also have to be honest, hard-working and a good friend off the pitch.

Do you think that having so many youth-team players in the first-team squad has been key to the club’s recent success?

Definitely, because we know each other inside-out. The fact there’s such a good atmosphere in the dressing room is a direct result of that. And in football terms, our results speak for themselves.

You made the unusual step of leaving Barcelona only to return later in your career. Why do you think things didn’t go as well for you at Manchester United as they are now at Barça?

I was just 17 when I joined United. I came on a lot there, by training in the first-team squad with players like Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand. I think I was too young , and barring my path were two of the best centre-backs in the world in Rio and Nemanja Vidic, who Sir Alex Ferguson rated more highly. But it was a very good experience, I still get on well with the coach and my former colleagues and I think it was a very useful period.

You then rejoined Barcelona, at Pep Guardiola’s behest. What makes him such a special coach?

The fact that he makes you understand the game. He doesn’t just give you orders, he also explains why. That makes you a better footballer because you learn the reasoning behind his instructions. That gives everything meaning.

Guardiola has also brought in new methods, such as ending the practice of players having to spend the nights before games in a hotel.

He has a different way of thinking and he’s always been consistent, in good times and bad. I love the fact that even when the team’s not winning and he receives criticism, he sticks to his guns. He’s a coach who doesn’t let what’s going on around him get to him, and he’s got a lot of self-belief.

What can you tell us about Guardiola’s tactical nous?

He’s got a lot of tactical variations up his sleeve. But however we line up, we always stick to Barça’s footballing philosophy, which revolves around keeping possession and using the ball well. Using that as a basis, we can shift things around quite a lot, setting our stall out with three or four at the back or varying the midfield line-up, because every one of us knows what he has to do. That gives us an edge.

There’s no doubt that 2010 was an unforgettable year in your career. Which was your personal highlight?

The World Cup Final with Spain, without a doubt. The whole country came together as one, which is quite a feat, but football has the power to do that and we were the ones who pulled it off. And it’s not just that, it’s also the things we experienced over there: being in South Africa for a whole month, meeting so many people and getting to know team-mates who you may not have known before but who’ve ended up becoming close friends.

Having won virtually every honour in the game by the age of 23, how do you stay motivated?

By simply remembering the moments after you’ve won something and how happy that made you feel. You try to always keep those moments fresh in your mind so you can repeat them. Winning is a lovely feeling and you miss it when you lose. That’s what motivates you.

After victory at South Africa 2010, Spain’s performances have been somewhat hit-and-miss. Why do you think this is?

Listen, in qualifying matches for EURO 2012 we’ve played really well and won all our games. The defeats came in Argentina and Portugal, against two great national sides. I think if there was ever a time to allow ourselves the luxury of losing, it’s now, since we’re world champions and they were both friendlies. That said, 4-1 and 4-0 aren’t acceptable results for us, and we’re going to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

You’re one of the most active Spain internationals when it comes to Twitter. How important are social networking services to the career of 21st century footballers?

It’s a good tool for staying in touch with your followers. I think it’s positive for them to know a bit more about you and for them to realise there’s more to you than your job as a footballer.

Staying on that topic, can you clear up a doubt we had? What does “moc, moc” mean?

(Laughs) Ah, that doesn’t really mean anything. (Laughs again) It’s an expression that me and my friends [Carles] Puyol and Cesc [Fabregas] use on Twitter which means “I’m thinking about you”. It’s also because Cesc lives over in London and sometimes it feels like he’s very far away. It’s a way of bringing us all closer and keeping in touch.

What are you like away from football?

I like to spend plenty of time with my childhood friends, the ones I’ve known all my life and the ones with whom I can be myself. Apart from that I like to go to the cinema, read, use the computer. It’s not very
different from what other young people do nowadays.

Can you see yourself leaving Barcelona again one day?

It’s my home and where I’ve always dreamed of playing. They’re one of the best, if not the best, teams in the world and I’ve got some enormously talented team-mates. I’m not planning on ever leaving.

As part of the Azulgrana backline, is it easy to switch off given your team-mates often have so much of the ball?

Because we have so much of the ball, that can often be tricky. You can even find yourself shocked by the extent we end up dominating games. The problem is that other teams can then catch you unawares on the counter-attack, so you must never let your concentration waver.

Finally, can you tell us who was your idol when you were growing up and who do you look up to in the modern game?

I remember I used to watch Real Madrid’s Fernando Hierro, who I admired despite the fact he played for our eternal rivals. And at the moment there are several players I look up to, Ferdinand and Vidic being two examples, as well as Carles Puyol, who is a great friend and an example to follow.

Pique, Puyol and Fabregas - World's Best Bromance

Barcelona player Gerard Pique recently explained his, Carles Puyol'd and Cesc Fabregas's use of the words "Moc Moc" when tweeting one another...

"Ah, that doesn’t really mean anything. It’s an expression that me and my friends [Carles] Puyol and Cesc [Fabregas] use on Twitter which means “I’m thinking about you”. It’s also because Cesc lives over in London and sometimes it feels like he’s very far away. It’s a way of bringing us all closer and keeping in touch"

Not only did that response from Pique melt my heart, but it got me thinking about how much I love thier friendship. Those three have a proper good bromance going on and I think its awesome.

Here's some pictures of their AMAZING Bromance lol!!

Malena Costa - Sparkling Diamond

Carles Puyol's model girlfriend, the lovely Malena Costa attended the Larios Calendar Party. Malena looked gorgeous as usual and I'm considering flying out to Spain to somehow steal her dress...

Jealous much?? :p x
